Will Desk terms of use
Last updated: 30 September 2026
Important terms
Please read these four points before you pay. They affect your rights.
- Will Desk is a document-assembly tool. It does not give legal advice. Heferon is not a law firm, and nobody at Heferon acts as your attorney. Will Desk puts your own answers into standard will wording. It does not check whether those choices suit your family or your estate.
- The will is only valid once it is printed and signed on paper, by you and two witnesses who are together at the same time, as the Wills Act 7 of 1953 requires. Will Desk cannot make the will valid on screen. Whether the signing is done correctly is in your hands.
- Printing is unlocked as soon as your payment is confirmed, and you agree to that when you pay. Because of this, the 7-day cooling-off period in section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 does not apply to this purchase (section 42(2)(d) of that Act). See section 6 for when Heferon refunds.
- Heferon's liability to you is limited to the amount you paid (section 8). This limit does not apply to loss caused by Heferon's gross negligence, or where the law does not allow a limit.

Heferon is not registered for VAT. No VAT is charged.
In these terms "Heferon", "we" and "us" mean Heferon (Pty) Ltd. "You" means the person using Will Desk.
2. What Will Desk does
Will Desk asks you questions, puts your answers into a will document for a simple South African estate, numbers the pages, adds signature lines, and gives you a signing checklist and a witness name check. It is built for simple estates only. If your answers to the first screen show your estate is not a simple one, Will Desk stops and does not produce a will.
Will Desk does not:
- give legal, tax or financial advice, or tell you which option to choose;
- review your will or your circumstances;
- store your will or your answers on Heferon's systems;
- act for you, or for your executor, with the Master of the High Court or anyone else;
- make an electronic will. South African law does not give validity to an electronically signed will.
3. Drafting is free. Printing is paid once.
Using Will Desk to prepare and preview your will costs nothing. Printing the finished will costs the amount shown on the print screen before you pay, paid once (South African rand; no VAT is charged). There are no other fees.
For that payment, printing is unlocked on the device and browser you paid from, for one year from the date of payment. During that year you may change your answers and print again as often as you like, at no extra cost. After the year ends, printing is locked again. A will you printed and signed during the year stays valid; the year only limits printing from Will Desk.
4. Payment
Payment is made on Paystack's own secure payment page. Your card details go to Paystack and never reach Heferon. Paystack emails your receipt to the address you give. That receipt is the record of your purchase; if you lose it, email hello@heferon.com and Heferon will send the payment details again.
Printing unlocks when Paystack confirms the payment to Will Desk, normally within a few seconds of paying.
5. Before you pay
Before you pay you can review every answer on the Review screen, go back and correct anything, or leave the payment page without paying. Nothing is charged until you complete payment on Paystack's page.
6. Refunds and cancellation
Cooling-off. Printing is a service that starts as soon as your payment is confirmed, and you ask for it to start straight away when you pay. Under section 42(2)(d) of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, the 7-day cooling-off period in section 44 of that Act does not apply to a service that began with the consumer's consent before the end of the seven days.
When Heferon refunds in full. Email hello@heferon.com with the last characters of your payment reference, and Heferon refunds the full amount you paid to the card you paid with if:
- you paid but printing did not unlock, and Heferon cannot fix that within 5 business days;
- you were charged more than once for the same will; or
- the law gives you a right to cancel or to a refund, including the right in section 43(3) of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
Refunds are paid through Paystack within 30 days of Heferon agreeing the refund.
Your statutory rights. Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.
7. Your part
You are responsible for:
- the accuracy of every answer you give, including names, ID numbers and shares;
- reading the whole printed will before you sign it;
- signing and having it witnessed on paper, following the signing checklist and the Wills Act; and
- keeping the signed original safe and telling your executor where it is.
Your answers are kept only on your device (see the privacy notice). If you clear your browser, switch saving off, or lose the device, Heferon cannot recover your answers.
8. Liability
Will Desk produces a document from your own answers and cannot know whether a will suits your circumstances. To the extent the law allows, Heferon's total liability to you for anything to do with Will Desk is limited to the amount you paid for it.
This limit does not apply to loss caused by the gross negligence of Heferon or of anyone acting for Heferon, and it does not reduce any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act that cannot be limited.
9. Availability
Will Desk is offered as a beta service. Heferon may change or stop Will Desk. If Heferon stops Will Desk during a year you have paid for, Heferon refunds the unused months in proportion, or keeps printing available for the rest of that year.
10. Privacy
How Will Desk handles personal information is set out in the privacy notice.
11. Changes to these terms
Heferon may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one shown when you paid. The date at the top shows when the terms last changed.
